The St. Regis Istanbul

Istanbul’s art deco address
VERIFIED LUXURY

If Jay Gatsby were able to time travel and arrive in modern-day Istanbul, he would without a doubt stop by The St. Regis Istanbul. Located in the city’s luxury and high-end fashion district, Nisantasi, the sumptuous stay is an updated take on the hotel’s classic New York heritage.

The moment you arrive, the unpretentious but elegantly designed lobby envelops you into an art-deco-inspired atmosphere. From the chic library stocked with books on art, design and Ottoman history to the eye-catching contemporary works lining the walls, the hotel was built with style in mind.

Be on the lookout for a selection of paintings from the Demsa Collection of Art alongside commissioned pieces that adorn both the public spaces and the stylishly appointed guest rooms.

But what makes The St. Regis Istanbul experience stand out is its excellence in service.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The St. Regis’ butler service does more than just deliver your late-night snacks. From unpacking your suitcase to providing local guidance, the highly trained staff aims to please.
  • Lobby lounge Petit O greets you as soon as you walk through the front doors. Grab a barstool and order a Misty Mary, the Istanbul hotel’s local take on the classic tomato-based tipple created at the King Cole Bar at The St. Regis New York in 1934.
  • Don’t miss the chance to dine at one of the few European outposts of celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s legendary restaurant, Spago. If the weather is nice, request a table on the terrace to enjoy gorgeous Bosphorus views while dining on the toque’s signature California cuisine.
  • All-day dining venue St. Regis Brasserie is a delightful spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast or an evening glass of wine, but afternoon tea is a treat that’s not to be missed. Savor exclusive blends and specialty coffee alongside local bites, such as a Turkish delight and simit (sesame bread).
  • The Istanbul property’s spacious 10,225-square-foot Iridium Spa is an urban oasis, outfitted with two hammams and three pools. Before or after your treatment, linger in Tea Bar, where an array of herbal and iced brews is served alongside fresh fruit and nuts.

Things to Know

  • A well-equipped fitness center provides all the gadgets you need for a quality workout, but lacks windows. If you’d rather burn off some steam in the sunshine, ask the concierge for the best running trails around the neighborhood.
  • Spago offers many different culinary options, from Asian to Italian cuisine, but do not to leave the Istanbul hotel without tasting the smoked salmon pizza and sipping a Peace on Earth cocktail (Captain Morgan rum, pineapple, passion fruit puree, orgeat and coconut syrup, fresh lime juice).
  • The St. Regis Istanbul is about a 30-minute drive from Istanbul Ataturk Airport. The hotel does offer a private car service, just be sure to reserve in advance.

The Rooms

  • Thanks to its triangular shape and corner location, The St. Regis’ 118 rooms all afford views of either lush Macka Park or vibrant Abdi Ipekci Street. Some of the suites have the best of both worlds, as well as magnificent Bosphorus vistas.
  • If you can pry your eyes from the room’s floor-to-ceiling window views, focus them on the bathroom. With separate deep-soaking tubs and rainforest showers, Remède amenities and a 19-inch mirror-integrated TV, these Marmara marble masterpieces are lavish.
  • There are many stylish suites to choose from, but the best city views can be found in the Cosmopolitan Suite. The 1,345-square-foot space occupies a corner of the luxury hotel, allowing for impressive views of Macka Park, Abdi Ipekci Street and the Bosphorus from every angle.
  • Car enthusiasts and style lovers will both appreciate the craftsmanship found in the Bentley Suite. The product of a collaboration between the luxury car manufacturer and The St. Regis, this space is only the second of its kind in the world, after the one in New York.

  • The Istanbul hotel gives you access to some of the city’s top shopping and dining destinations. It’s within walking distance of Valikonagi, Rumeli, Tesvikiye and Abdi Ipekci streets — all home to chic restaurants, luxury boutiques, trendy coffee shops and bakeries.
  • For a cultured afternoon, start your day at the nearby Milli Reasurans Art Gallery, just a four-minute walk from the hotel. Afterward, stop by Cemal Reeit Rey Concert Hall to see which classical and jazz concerts are on tap for the evening.
  • A short metro or taxi ride takes you to the myriad restaurants, shops and nightlife hot spots of Taksim Square.
