- The Pine Bar is a sumptuous feast of red and pink velvet stocked with more than 100 whiskies, some dating back to the 1920s. Be guided by the trolley selection or savor interesting cocktails such as the Major Oak, a bourbon- and truffle-spiked ode to Sherwood Forest. Look out for the original Matisse on the right-hand wall as you walk in.
Cementing The Biltmore Mayfair
as a dining destination is prominentPortuguese chef Luis Campos’ Café Biltmore. With something for everyone, the restaurant offers an all-day dining menu filled with locally sourced products that surprise and delight — from fresh fish and meats to a modern twist on Mediterranean classics.The Terrace is a cozy alfresco spot to dine or drink year-round. It offers a laid-back alternative to the more formal restaurant setting inside.
- The 24-hour, 3,229-square-foot fitness suite is bigger than the average London hotel gym, stretching along the ground floor to include TRX and boxing stations, treadmills, free weights and a Peloton bike room to join live-streamed classes.
The Tea Lounge, highlighting fresh and heritage produce from across the UK, is a space where guests are invited to enjoy sweet and savory treats alongside a glass of champagne or a cup of freshly brewed tea from a designated tea trolley.
- Grill 88 is a sophisticated new spot on historic Grosvenor Square delivering the highest-quality steaks and seafood in an intimate setting ideal for celebrations or casual meals. Evoking the glamour of times gone by with its sleek, art deco-inspired interiors, the restaurant’s ambiance is serene yet sultry. With seating for 32 guests, an open kitchen and live cooking, Grill 88 promises a memorable dining experience.
Things to Know
- There are two entrances to The Biltmore: Adam’s Row at the back and Grosvenor Square at the front. Whether you’re arriving on foot or by cab, make for the latter; with its sweeping circular lobby and central floral display, it’s a much grander first impression.
- The seventh-floor, front-facing guest rooms are set in the eaves, adding a slant to the ceiling that makes them feel homely. If you’re particularly tall, you may prefer an accommodation toward the back or on a lower floor.
- Online maps will tell you Marble Arch or Park Lane are the closest underground stations to the rest of the city. Walk straight out of the hotel across Grosvenor Square and you’ll arrive right outside Selfridges on Oxford Street in less than five minutes. Another minute right and you have Bond Street station.
- To soak up the Grosvenor Square setting, request a front room. If you prefer a more urban vista, opt for the back.
- Three opulent banqueting rooms and a 700-capacity ballroom with a private entrance are great for conferences or plush Mayfair weddings.
The Rooms
- All 307 rooms (including 57 suites) in the luxury hotel enjoy a nature-inspired palette, soft fabrics and plump beds, bespoke British-made furniture and London-centric touches from coffee table books telling local tales to floral Penhaligon’s products. For the best views of the London skyline and Grosvenor Square, book a sixth- or seventh-floor front-facing room.
- Room amenities have all the basics covered, including toothbrushes, bottled sparkling and still water (replenished daily at turndown), Nespresso coffee, Whittard of Chelsea tea, and built-in U.S. and continental adapters and USB sockets.
- Bathrooms are spacious and sleekly decked in Italian marble with TOTO toilets, large walk-in showers and (in many rooms) an egg-shaped freestanding tub big enough for two.
- The Duplex Suite is a split-level accommodation with two bedrooms and a living room, making it well-suited for a small family. You’ll spy the London Eye from this one, too.
- King Premier Rooms are nice options for solo travelers or short stays. We particularly like room 514 — at 301 square feet, it’s slightly larger than the others in the category, and features a sweet curved seating area and Grosvenor Square views.
The Restaurants
The property offers an array of dining options curated by chef Luis Campos. Enjoy seasonally driven dishes at Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace. Indulge in premium cuts of meat at Grill 88 steakhouse. Experience the epitome of British culture with afternoon tea in The Tea Lounge. Gratify your evening with high-end spirits, wines and cocktails at The Pine Bar.
- Save room for the cheese trolley. From ash-coated goat to brandy-washed Époisses to Irish Gouda, it’s a fine selection representing four cheese families, each served with crackers and housemade chutney.
- The silver tea trolley is a fun way to finish off your meal, piled high with fresh herbs, snipped off and mixed to meet your taste. Catch the scent of lemongrass, mint, thyme and rosemary as it makes its way from table to table.
- The Biltmore breakfast selection offers something for everyone. Pluck one of the freshly baked pastries from the continental buffet; a fresh juice or dish from the wellness selection, such as overnight-soaked chia seeds with yogurt and fresh strawberries; or opt for something indulgent like Scottish lobster with scrambled eggs, lobster bisque and truffle.
