Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills

L.A.'s new grande dame
As the debut West Coast hotel of the brand, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills left nothing to chance in making a lasting first impression. The hotel’s rooftop restaurant comes from heralded chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the La Prairie Spa is exclusive to L.A. and famed French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon devised the stunning interiors.

A nod to Hollywood’s golden era, the hotel — built by architectural firms Perkins+Will and Gensler — is art deco modern. A new build to the tune of $200 million, the property glows with sparkling splendor in every detail — from the ornate, crystal chandelier in the lobby to the golden geometric accents of your bathroom’s flooring. At 12 stories high, the Waldorf is one of the tallest buildings in Beverly Hills and affords unique cityscape views from every room.

Where the iconic Trader Vic’s restaurant stood for more than a half-century at Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is the new awards season favorite hot spot. Adjacent to The Beverly Hilton (where the Golden Globes are held), it’s within a 10-minute walk to L.A.’s most luxurious shopping district, including Rodeo Drive.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Every guest is assigned a personal concierge. Simply text him with a request, from dinner reservations to scoring box seats at the Hollywood Bowl, and your wishes are granted, hassle-free.
  • For a very L.A. moment, sip on a chilled craft cocktail while watching the sun set over the Golden Triangle at the The Rooftop by JG, the hotel’s 12th-floor outdoor lounge.
  • Whether you take them in from the rooftop pool or your room’s private balcony, make sure to carve out some time to enjoy the stunning cityscape views.
  • Indulge yourself with an intimate dinner at the elegant Espelette, a fine-dining establishment inspired by coastal European flavors.
  • The Beverly Hills hotel’s spa and salon were as carefully curated as a red carpet designer gown. The La Prairie spa is the only place in L.A. to find the prestigious Swiss skincare line — including the beloved Skin Caviar collections — and it has a salon by Beverly Hills favorite, Joseph Martin.
Things to Know
  • No waiting around in the lobby to check in here. At the valet, you’re ushered directly to your room, where check-in is handled by your personal concierge.
  • If you arrive and want to go directly to dinner, no need to navigate through the hotel to reach the restaurant. Simply ask the valet to show you the somewhat secret direct entrance.
  • If you’re not staying at the Los Angeles hotel, you’ll need to make reservations to access The Rooftop by JG. It’s an intimate space and the most coveted spot in the hotel by guests and in-the-know locals — especially after work.
  • If you’re exploring beyond the hotel’s walls, ask your concierge to book the house Rolls-Royce for a complimentary drop-off within a three-mile radius.
The Rooms
  • The L.A. hotel's 119 deluxe rooms and 51 suites — only 18 rooms per floor — come with an iPad master room control, espresso machine, lightning-fast Wi-Fi and a fully stocked mini bar.
  • The marble bathrooms with metallic finishes offer a spacious bathtub and a separate shower with Diptyque and Ferragamo toiletries.
  • Sizes range from roughly 537 square feet for the standard Superior Room up to the 3,215-square-foot Presidential Suite.
  • The color of décor varies by the type of room you book — from celadon green or baby blue to chocolate brown or gold.
  • What is the same throughout, no matter the room, are the stunning views (of either Century City or residential Beverly Hills) and a private balcony to enjoy them.
The Restaurants
  • Espelette Beverly Hills' menus reflect creative Californian cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Think wood-grilled branzino, watermelon served with feta cheese and a decadent carbonara pasta.

  • The Rooftop by JG is outfitted in celadon-green couches, intimate tables and a roaring fireplace for L.A.’s breezy nights. Sample sharable bites or fresh salads and sandwiches from the bar’s all-day dining menu.

  • If you love champagne or Madeira (Portuguese fortified wine), then be sure to order a glass here — the wine menu is one of L.A.’s best. It spotlights premium bottles and rare vintages.
