Selman Marrakech

A desert escape for haute style and horses
VERIFIED LUXURY

Spread across 15 acres at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, Selman Marrakech offers a green oasis where regal Arabian horses roam the land. The beautiful thoroughbreds inspired the elegant Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel, as the owners are avid equestrians (and even have a breeding program on the property).

Visit the hotel’s stable, get a dressage lesson, watch the prize-winning stallions perform during breakfast, arrange a private show or even have a photo shoot with them.

One of the best way to see the steeds is during Selman Marrakech’s Sunday brunch. The spread alone warrants a reservation, with verrines, tagines, oysters and much more. But some days the morning meal comes with an impressive hour-long horse show.

Along with the stunning stallions, the hotel lures you in with an Espace Vitalité Chenot spa, dazzling design and a picturesque pool.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The 262-foot-long lap pool is stunning. You will want to carve out time to linger poolside and snap some memorable selfies.
  • With its own two heated outdoor pools, the Orient-influenced Espace Vitalité Chenot spa is a secluded spot on the property. Traditional treatments are available, but the brand is known for its Chenot method, a unique wellness approach that focuses on biontology, which flushes out toxins from the body to promote longevity.
  • Jacques Garcia did the sumptuous design, from the large sunken space (the focal point of the hotel), to the stables and spa. The public spaces are grand, while the accommodations feel closed off and intimate.
  • The Sunday brunch at Le Pavillon is a remarkable experience. You’ll be treated to a live horse show as well as multiple buffet tables, a lobster grill and decadent desserts.
  • The beautiful Arabian horses undoubtedly make this hotel stand out from the rest. Take advantage of the many opportunities to see and interact with the impressive creatures.

Things to Know

  • The Marrakech hotel has an onsite kids club with games, crafts and more. But the highlight is the stallion-related activities, including horse-drawn carriage rides and stable visits.
  • The Selman is just outside Marrakech, granting you easy access to the city without giving up the seclusion and privacy that makes you feel miles away.
  • If you’d rather not take a dip in the main pool, pass through the spa to discover smaller swimming holes in a more natural setting. This is the respite for those that want more privacy.

The Rooms

  • The 55 rooms and suites and five villas all have an Arab-Moorish aesthetic with details like zellige mosaic tiles, curved furniture and latticework, but feel very modern. Each has its own twist and design.
  • All accommodations come with a terrace that overlooks the pool or the gardens as well as a luxe black-and-white-mosaic-accented soaking tub. Situated below a small Arabic-style window that opens into the main room, the baths feel like an oasis.
  • Featuring a modern gray color palette and bathed in natural light, the suites have a little more space to make yourself at home; each has a living room, a dining area and a furnished terrace. You also can choose from a garden or pool view.
  • The most luxurious accommodations are the palatial villas. With more than 6,200 square feet of space, each boasts its own pool, garden, butler service and car for you to use.

The Restaurants

  • Le Selman carries a Biolight menu designed to highlight the taste and nutrients in the food. Cooks have been trained in the principles of Henri Chenot to complement the spa’s unique approach to wellness.
  • Assyl has a distinctive focus on Moroccan cuisine served in a dining room reminiscent of an Ottoman palace. Enjoy an à la carte menu while being entertained by Andalusian musicians and a tasteful, Oriental dance show.
  • Marrakech provides ample sunshine throughout the year, so have an alfresco lunch at Le Pavillon. The menu blends Mediterranean dishes with locally sourced produce, meats, fish and seafood.
  • Slip into a plush purple chair in the cozy Le Bar Selman for cocktails and electro-lounge tunes from a resident DJ.
