- Fontainebleau Miami Beach is three miles from the center of bustling South Beach and just steps from the Atlantic Ocean. Nestled between miles of hotels on Collins Avenue, Fontainebleau is an oceanfront Miami Beach standout.
- The historic hotel was designed by Morris Lapidus in 1954 and made a splash with Rat Pack icons when it debuted. Everyone from Frank Sinatra to James Bond (in Goldfinger) have spent time here.
- Lapidus’ design for the Fontainebleau coined the term Miami Modern, and you can see the 20th-century style in the property’s aesthetic.
- And just because this 1,504-room Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel has a history, doesn’t mean it’s not modern — the Fontainebleau maintains a fresh look.
Things to Know
- Fontainebleau Miami Beach boasts an oceanfront oasis that features a central pool designed to resemble designer Lapidus’ signature bow-tie design.
- You’ll also find a shallow children’s pool with slide, several small hot tubs, a circular-shaped pool with a luxurious cabana in the center, and many other amenities to enhance your fun in the sun.
- If you get hungry, you can order light bites like quesadillas or have fresh fruit delivered to your chair. Glow Bar, meanwhile, offers a selection of Daiquiris and other cocktail favorites next to the turquoise waters.
- And if you’ve forgotten anything pool or beach related, whether it’s sunscreen, your Pucci beach bag, a sparkly lamé bikini or your favorite Ray-Bans, the Aquamarine store on the lower level of the Château building is just a five-minute walk from the pool.
The Rooms
- Fontainebleau Miami Beach is one of the area’s glitziest and most glamorous hotels, and its 1,500 plus rooms (of which 769 are guest rooms and 735 are suites) are chic, comfortable and filled with modern conveniences.
- Rooms feature a neutral color palette with white walls and bedding, accented by light wood furniture and mod, 1960s artwork and lighting.
- Expect contemporary touches, such as unique artwork from John Baldessari that repeats the phrase, “I will not make any more boring art.”
- Beds — either a single king or two queens — anchor the room, featuring padded leather headboards, which provides additional support if you want to read in bed or watch your LG flat-screen television just opposite.
The Restaurants
- Stop by Hakkasan for dinner or a dim sum lunch. This high-end Cantonese restaurant has a diverse menu of food, wines and sakes. It’s also on the rooftop of the fourth floor, ideal for a date night.
Mirabella is an indoor-outdoor Italian restaurant helmed by celebrated chef Michael White. The menu has been thoughtfully designed for sharing, featuring family-style portions of dishes like seafood risotto and roasted chicken that ignite conversation and appetites.
- There are a few smaller, more casual options: Blade serves sushi, Fresh serves lunch bites, Chez Bon Bon is great for coffee and Vida is the hotel’s American brasserie. We also like La Côte for lively atmosphere, cocktails, tapas and fresh seafood, salads and desserts.
Located off the historic Chateau Lobby in the heart of the resort, Prime 54 is the innovative alternative to the traditional steakhouse setting, offering dry-aged beef from Japan and choice cuts sourced from other parts of the globe.
