Marina Bay Sands

Dizzying heights in Singapore
The cityscape of Singapore has been forever changed with erection of Marina Bay Sands, a colossal riverside gaming resort. While Singapore’s centuries-old shop houses sit alongside a shimmering sea of towering skyscrapers, the hotel commands its own attention with unique architecture.

Look beneath the gloss of the city’s cosmopolitan enclave and what you’ll find is an unspoken fervor for perfection ebbing throughout Singapore — the kind of fervor that gives birth to architectural marvels like Marina Bay Sands.

Three sloping 57-story towers are topped by a deck that spans three acres. Since its completion in 2010, it has become a favorite of architectural magazines across the globe. And not without reason — the iconic MBS hotel gleams alluringly under the midday sky and glistens stealthily at night like an extra-terrestrial mother ship poised for takeoff.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Undeniably an epicurean’s paradise, Marina Bay Sands pulls out all the stops when it comes to gastronomy with more than 80 dining options ranging from highly acclaimed restaurants to modern bistros and upmarket dessert parlors.
  • Sitting snug atop the luxury hotel’s three towers on the 57th level is the tropical oasis aptly named Sands SkyPark. Flanked by the Singapore skyline on one side and the South China Sea on the other, the park offers amazing panoramas no matter where you stand.
  • The star here is the infinity pool — an attraction all its own. A carefully crafted design illusion makes it seem like you are about to fall off the edge of the building while you’re in the water.
  • If you’re feeling thirsty, walk on straight down to Cé La Vi, Spago or LAVO Singapore — rooftop bars and eateries ideal for small bites, stiff drinks and magnificent aerial views of Singapore.
  • Though Four-Star Marina Bay Sands is essentially a self-contained city, the hotel’s ideal location on the bay means that many of Singapore’s top attractions and areas – including Gardens by the Bay, the Esplanade and Clarke Quay – are within walking distance.
Things to Know
  • Though seemingly independent of each other when viewed from the outside, the hotel’s sloping towers and straight legs connect at the 23rd level to form a single entity.
  • Itching to go on an upscale shopping spree? The Singapore hotel is conveniently connected to sprawling The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, a massive underground mall with branches for many of the world’s top luxury retail brands, restaurants and much more.
The Rooms
  • Designed by acclaimed Boston-based architect Moshe Safdie, the Singapore hotel boasts approximately 1,850 rooms and suites, some of which are newly renovated as a result of the property’s ongoing multi-year transformation to welcome a new era of luxury hospitality.
  • An understated, elegant taupe color palette and an impeccable selection of materials and textures lend the newly designed rooms a feeling of elevated craftsmanship.
  • The floor-to-ceiling windows illuminate the living space in natural light during the day while providing a picturesque portraiture of the cityscape come nightfall.
  • Intuitive details such as a leather-clad safe, drawers and wardrobe hangers make each guest room feel like a luxurious home.
  • The new Chairman Suite’s two living areas, show kitchen, massage room, state-of-the-art gym and entertainment room, complete with a 146-inch television screen and karaoke machine, make this over-the-top suite an ideal space for entertaining. Other decadent details include Jacuzzi bathtubs, rain showers and his-and-her bathrooms stocked with Hermès toiletries.
The Restaurants
  • A crowd favorite is the modern American steakhouse CUT Singapore by Wolfgang Puck. The food here pays homage to meat connoisseurs with a stellar assortment of prized beef cuts, meat offerings and an extensive seafood menu.
