Rosewood Baha Mar

The crown jewel of Nassau’s Cable Beach
VERIFIED LUXURY

Luxurious and low-key, Rosewood Baha Mar is undoubtedly the most lavish of the three resorts in the Bahamian capital’s sprawling hotel development. The 12-story British Colonial-style haven presides over Cable Beach, staffed by a team that delivers top-notch service from the moment you arrive at Lynden Pindling International Airport (you'll check in at the resort’s private lounge) to when you retreat poolside, where butlers offer sunscreen and chilled towels.

Once within the lobby, adorned in hand-painted murals, it’s easy to forget that Baha Mar’s bells and whistles — including the Caribbean’s largest casino, 40 restaurants and bars, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and several high-end boutiques — lie just beyond. Enjoy access to all of these shared Baha Mar facilities, as well as the resort’s own amenities, which include a pair of pools, five bars and restaurants and Sense, A Rosewood Spa.

Rather than loudly declaring its abundance, the resort seduces with a whisper to those who prize subtle elegance over glitz and glam.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Despite its British-inspired décor, Rosewood Baha Mar exudes a palpable sense of its destination from a variety of subtle touches. Among them are an extensive collection of local art, room numbers that feature hand-woven Bahamian straw and, on arrival, glasses of Sky Juice, a local gin-and-condensed-milk cocktail.
  • One-bedroom suites and higher categories come with butler service. Beyond simply unpacking your suitcase or making dinner reservations, the butlers do everything from prepare cocktails to draw an evening bath.
  • The level of attention to detail paid to every aspect of the hotel experience — from coffered ceilings in the elevators to wallpapered closets to reading glasses made available in the restaurants — is impressive.
  • Rum connoisseurs will want to try Rosewood Baha Mar’s custom-blended house spirit. There’s a bottle in the mini-bar of each room, and it’s also served at the handsome, club-like Manor Bar.
  • In addition to the luxury hotel’s restaurants and bars, you can dine at any of Baha Mar’s 40 other dining and drinking venues, where payment is a simple as signing to your room.

Things to Know

  • If this is a special occasion, consider purchasing a private airport transfer kitted out with a hamper of treats, including champagne, housemade chocolates and local confections.
  • Spa visitors should arrive to the facility with ample time to relax and enjoy a cup of Bahamian “bush tea” (brews made from local plants) offered before each treatment. The sage, sorrel and orange peel blend we sampled was divine.
  • Most Baha Mar restaurants are high-end and have smart dress codes, so pack accordingly.

The Rooms

  • Rooms have the feel of a sophisticated beach house with subdued shades of aqua, vanilla and taupe, combined with white wood-paneled walls, teak floors and Bahamian art.
  • Whether resort- or ocean-view, all rooms come with marble bathrooms, furnished balconies and a spacious sectional sofa with a dining-height table in view of the wall-mounted TV — a nice touch for evenings in.
  • In addition to 136 rooms and 93 suites, the Nassau hotel also has four villas (three three-bedrooms and one six-bedroom), which boast perks like pools and added privacy.

The Restaurants

  • Don’t miss afternoon tea in The Library, where more than 40 varieties of loose-leaf tea (including several Bahamian bush teas) are served with sandwiches, patisserie and a selection of caviar.
  • At Costa, savor Mexican classics such as ceviche, fish tacos and Oaxacan short rib with black mole indoors or alfresco in a quartet of pavilions floating over a koi pond.
  • Indulge in food from one of the world's finest chefs, Daniel Boulud. Café Boulud The Bahamas serves French food with local produce and seafood.
