Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The massage beds are delightful, topped with tiny clay stones that move to accommodate your shape and warm up once in contact with your body.
  • Beyond Chinese therapies and Zen-inducing surroundings, the Beijing spa uses locally inspired ingredients (like jade and ginger) to enhance the sense of place.
  • Whether you’re looking to wind down or get energized, the colored mood lighting in treatment rooms can be adjusted to suit your vibe.
  • The gym offers all the basics for a well-rounded workout, but we highly suggest checking out the Skillrun treadmill from Technogym. This unique piece of equipment allows for cardio and power training in one high-tech machine.
  • In addition to an all-encompassing menu of massages, facials and body treatments, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing allows you to while away the best part of an afternoon with two extended programs that combine personal training with classic spa treatments.

Things to Know

  • The ergonomic heated loungers by the pool are genuinely comfortable but few. Throw a towel down before your treatment if you want to relax afterward.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for a mix-and-match of different treatments. Therapists are happy to curate programs for your particular needs.

The Treatments

  • Massages include Chinese-style no-oil acupressure, aromatherapy and a mom-to-be option. The latter focuses on the shoulders and upper back and uses pregnancy-safe oils.
  • Inspired by the legacy of China’s ancient rulers, Emperor’s Longevity combines the dry heat of a quartz sand bed with gua sha meridian massage techniques to leave you feeling tranquil.
  • Two extended programs help you balance mind and body. Inner Peace includes a spiritually pleasing sound bath and an aromatherapy massage, while Reawaken comes with body analysis before a targeted personal training session, a body scrub, massage and facial.
  • Gents are not neglected on the spa menu, with two treatments specifically tailored to their needs: a cleansing facial and a 90-minute Deep Sleep program that combines a pressure-point massage and mini facial.

The Facilities

  • The indoor pool at the luxury spa is bathed in natural light thanks to a ceiling made of glass.
  • Of the four themed suites, the Moroccan-influenced Flower Suite makes for an extra sumptuous spa day. The space is equipped with a mosaic-tiled hammam for detoxing services.
  • There are three individual treatment rooms and one for couples, all equipped with specialist massage beds, music, mood lighting and en-suite shower rooms.
