The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Montreal

A soothing retreat in the Golden Square Mile

At The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Montreal, it’s easy to spend an afternoon moving from an exfoliating maple body scrub to an aromatherapy massage to an herbal relaxation bath without noticing the hours go by. But a single Rose Gold Hydrating Facial or deep-tissue massage is enough to soak up the Zen.

If it’s privacy you’re looking for, The Golden Square VIP Suite caters both to celebrities wanting to stay incognito and couples wanting to enjoy some champagne before their treatment à deux.

Attention to detail sets this elegant spa apart, from sweet, calming scents to a carefully curated selection of treatments using renowned beauty products. With a fig-scented welcome area that doubles as a boutique, the spa makes it simple for you to continue the pampering at home with your favorite all-natural creams and cleansers.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Montreal is home to the city’s only Kneipp hydrotherapy experience. The treatment features twin warm and cold baths and a rounded-pebble footpath — a natural form of reflexology.
  • The sky-lit pool isn’t connected to the Montreal spa, but it’s worth diving into during your stay and is best followed by a trip to the sauna or steam room. The pool features a stream that you can swim against for a full-body, low-impact workout.
  • Lemon- and cucumber-infused water, peppermint tea, almonds and sweet dried figs (to match the scent in the spa entryway and boutique) are available throughout the facility.
  • Signature treatments take inspiration from the hotel’s Golden Square Mile location. Offerings include the Rose Gold Hydrating Facial, with a rose-scented gold mask that helps strengthen skin and repair micro-damage, and the Golden Glow Body Treatment, an exfoliating golden sugar scrub and hot-stone massage using gold-flecked essential oil.
  • In the spa boutique, peruse handcrafted jewelry, stylish swimwear and luxury body products, including British line 111SKIN, which aims to replicate the popular in-clinic treatments of its cosmetic surgeon founder.

Things to Know

  • Book your service well in advance if you want an appointment around noon on the weekend, when the Montreal hotel fills with brunch guests hoping to pair their eggs Benedict with a little pampering.
  • Men are not an afterthought at this Four Seasons spa. The boutique sells shaving cream, beard oil and after-shave balm kits from Quebec company GROOM.
  • Eight treatment rooms make it possible to book a last-minute massage or facial on a weekday, but we still recommend calling ahead.

The Treatments

  • The luxury spa’s Golden Square VIP Suite caters both to solo customers looking for privacy and couples craving romance. Couples options range from two- to four-hour experiences featuring an hour of pre-treatment relaxation, your choice of service, champagne, fruit or sweet bites and a relaxing bath.
  • Facials and massages use mineral-based oils from Budapest skincare company Omorovicza, which is featured at many Four Seasons properties.
  • Mothers-to-be can luxuriate in a prenatal bubble bath that starts with a full-body dry brush and coconut hair treatment.
  • Locally inspired, the Montreal Essences Bath includes a dry brush application, massage and salt- and herb-infused soak.

The Facilities

  • The eight treatment rooms inspire relaxation thanks to their minimalist aesthetic and exceptional soundproofing.
  • The usual spa suspects are all here (sauna, whirlpool and relaxation areas), as is a state-of the-art gym designed by celebrity fitness guru Harley Pasternak.
  • Bold-colored, locally made paintings line the hallways as you walk between the changing area and treatment rooms.
