Then, you’ll take a stroll around the gardens to your treatment room for a blissful afternoon of transformative therapies that are powered by Mother Nature — the spa’s potent creams and serums come packed with indigenous plants, fruits, herbs and therapeutic botanicals.

Envisioned by Hong Kong-based design house AB Concept, the spa’s interiors feel contemporary and uplifting, beginning in the light-filled reception area where the world seems to slow under your feet.
Inspired by “lost remedies” of the Li people — a local community who has lived on Hainan for thousands of years — the menu’s traditional Chinese treatments harness the natural powers of local herbs and therapeutic botanicals.
The Sanya spa’s airy suites feel contemporary and refreshing, thanks to sleek oak wood, calming beige tones and lots of natural light.
There are nearly 30 treatments on the comprehensive menu, ranging from massages to facials, foot reflexology, deeply relaxing baths and detoxification treatments, ensuring that you can find your bliss.
When it comes to refreshments, expect seasonal tropical fruits and a selection of local teas, including rose and Zhe Gu varieties.

Things to Know

For a little extra luxury, add an express treatment onto any therapy. These 30-minute experiences include eye care, mini facials, neck and shoulder massages and reflexology.
The spa is open daily until 11 p.m., which means you can sneak in a calming treatment right before bedtime to ensure a deep night’s sleep.
There’s a dedicated kids’ menu dubbed Sense of Beginning offering services for budding spa-goers, such as Youthful Glow for teens battling acne or the Youth Massage to promote self-care and wellbeing.
The therapists at Sense work with only the best products, which is why you’ll find German skincare brand Babor used in women’s treatments and Germaine de Capuccini for men. If you love the results, pick up a few bottles at the spa’s curated boutique.

The Treatments

The Sanya spa’s signature treatments revolve around 2,000-year-old Bian healing practices of the Li people, which draw from local plants, fruits and herbs. The 90-minute Hainan Island Therapy, for example, includes a Bian stone and bamboo acupressure massage to boost circulation, soothe the mind and calm the nerves.
The 90-minute Sanya Impression aims to detox the body with steamed poultices filled with herbs like guava leaves, peppermint and lemongrass.
A celebration of self-care, Li Bathing Balm is one of the luxury spa’s most popular treatments. After a soothing soak, you’ll be enveloped in a therapeutic tea and herbal wrap, then smothered in coconut oil to nourish and hydrate.
Gents will appreciate the dedicated men’s grooming options, including the Salt Scrub, which uses a blend of black pepper and ginger to exfoliate dry skin.

The Facilities

Among the seven treatment rooms, three can be used for couples’ therapies and all include an outdoor spa garden where you can unwind before or after your service.
The Sense Suite is the most luxurious of all, promising a private oasis where you can enjoy massages, facials, afternoon tea, healthy lunches and a slew of healing refreshments.
Near the Hainan Island spa, a spacious fitness center delivers everything you need for an effective workout, including cold towels, complimentary headsets, treadmills, bikes, free weights and ab mats — all with views of the surrounding gardens.
There are two yoga pavilions — one indoors, one outdoors — as well as guided classes.
Sense, A Rosewood Spa boasts heat treatment facilities where you can relax in the steam, sauna and whirlpool up to 60 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
