Wellspring Spa

Penthouse pampering in Taipei
VERIFIED LUXURY
From its perch on the penthouse floor of the glamorous Regent Taipei, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Wellspring Spa is a true urban retreat. It was designed to be a resort-like sanctuary for city dwellers and those visiting the bustling Taiwanese capital, and it succeeds.

The sprawling space is bathed in natural light and wood materials and it evokes a warm, modern Oriental vibe. Expect a large range of treatments influenced by several international destinations, including China, Bali, Thailand and Hawaii.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• Bright white furniture and wispy white curtains welcome you with an immediate sense of calm. Designed by Singapore-based Tierra Design, the interiors bring to mind an indulgent destination spa despite Wellspring’s urban location.

• Earth tones and warm wooden accents embody a natural Japanese aesthetic — picture lots of clean lines, detailed wood walls, minimalist furniture and a flood of natural light.

• Post-treatment, you’ll sit down for a relaxing foot scrub and a spot of warm ginger tea while birds chirp and ocean waves roll gently through the spa’s sound system.

• Many of the treatments finish off with a warm bath in a giant granite tub, and a small tray of tasty snacks, such as fresh blueberries, pineapple and the addictive peanut mochi.

• Offering a personalized and handcrafted touch, all of the aromatherapy oils are mixed and prepared by therapists to fit an individual’s needs.
Things to Know
• Unlike many resort-style spas, the 4,628-square-foot Taipei spa doesn’t have a separate water treatment zone or a Jacuzzi to wade in, but most treatments begin with an invitation to enjoy the in-suite steam room, which doubles as a rain shower.

• To keep up with the hotel’s sophisticated jet-setting guests, well-trained therapists at the luxury spa employ a mix of healing techniques, from Balinese to Thai, Hawaiian to Swedish.
The Treatments
• Massages aren’t the only thing on the menu, here — you’ll also find skin polishes, body wraps, facials and a slew of herbal wraps and scrubs.

• The signature massages are a real treat, particularly the Traveler’s Perk, a two-part treatment that aims to knead away jet lag and refresh skin with a moisture-packed facial.

• Another signature is the Divine Duet, in which two therapists work in a synchronized massage to iron out knots.
The Facilities
• A wood-lined corridor guides you to the tranquil treatment rooms, where a private steam room, rain shower, plush massage bed and big granite bathtub await.

• An alfresco pool crowns the hotel’s rooftop — the heated pool is open all year round.

• Located in the basement, the fitness club locker rooms are home to a Jacuzzi and a sauna.

• The gym itself has rows and rows of Technogym equipment, but alas, no stellar views like those of the top-floor spa.
