Evian Spa at Palace Hotel Tokyo

French sophistication with a Japanese touch
VERIFIED LUXURY

In the heart of Tokyo's central Marunouchi, you’ll find the uniquely European sanctuary, Evian Spa at Palace Hotel Tokyo. The spa is the only one of its kind in Japan. Evian, the famed mineral water that originates from melting snow on the peaks of France’s Northern Alps in France, is known for its purity and healing properties. So, it should come as no surprise that these principles of relaxation, beautification and physical rejuvenation make up the spa’s central theme.

The Alpine inspiration is obvious throughout the spa — white walls, bleached wooden interiors and touches of red are consistent through the space. The facility is also designed to remind us of living water, and ripples on the ceiling of the treatment rooms makes sure that message resonates. These rooms are named for peaks in the Alps.

Evian is not only filtered and protected from pollutants by the glacial rocks from which it flows but, during its 15-year journey down the mountains, it is enriched with minerals and electrolytes that give it a crisp, slightly salty taste and loads it with health benefits. Evian water is rich in calcium and magnesium with a pH of 7.2, making it perfect for skin treatments.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Evian spa is fortuitously located on Palace Hotel’s fifth floor, meaning it offers tranquil views of the Imperial Palace’s gardens, downtown Tokyo and, off into the distance, snow-capped Mount Fuji, too.
  • The Evian Spa Tokyo Ritual Experience is the ultimate in revitalizing bliss. This 210-minute odyssey includes body treatments, a facial, a scrub and a spirulina body wrap.
  • The nearly 13,000-square-foot facility contains five treatment rooms, heated baths, a marble sauna, a plunge pool and relaxation areas for men and women.
  • The spa is adjacent to a 24-hour fitness room filled with Technogym equipment, an impressive indoor pool and Under Armour fitness gear you can rent.
  • Bottles of Evian are available to rehydrate you before and after your service. Tea, nuts and dried fruit can also be found in the relaxation lounge.

Things to Know

  • Complimentary morning yoga sessions are held in the Tokyo spa for in-house guests. These classes are suited to yoga practitioners of all levels.
  • Facials and mineral therapy body treatments use Evian water in combination with products from France (Anne Semonin, Ominsens) as well as those that are locally produced (Warew anti-aging skincare line).
  • Shorter treatments are available so you can pop in for a short pampering party between other appointments.

The Treatments

  • The Vitalizing Signature Treatment is stimulating acupressure session and deep-tissue massage meant to clear the mind and calm the muscles. The 60- or 90-minute escape is one of Evian Spa’s most popular services.
  • Anne Semonin facial products are custom blended to suit the season and the needs of each individual's skin requirements.
  • Keep an eye out for regular promotions on Evian Spa’s website. Though the warm, circulation-building Winter Body Wrap may not be available during your July visit, you can rest assured knowing that something with timely benefits will be on offer.

The Facilities

  • The 20-meter indoor pool is surrounded by a Jacuzzi, red lounging chairs and massive windows looking onto the city.
  • The sauna is not only an effective way of heating the muscles, but the white marble it’s enveloped in is beautiful.
  • If you’re thinking about a couple’s massage, the dual-bedded Spa Suite, with its personal showers and private seating area, is the best setting for it.
