What we love about Woodlands Grill and Rice House is that there are no bad places to sit. Whether you prefer some privacy, or like to be tucked away near a fireplace or window with great views of the Barnsley Resort grounds, each dining room offers a variety of best tables. If you’re looking for intimacy, a table in Rice House’s Rose Room, a small private dining room with burgundy walls, white wainscoting and a brick fireplace, is your best option. The porch dining room is possibly the most charming dining room at the resort, with a redbrick floor and walls of windows that offer meadow views until 10 p.m. on summer evenings. Fireplaces in each restaurant provide prime seating in winter, when flickering flames will cozy up a meal (the giant fieldstone fireplace at Woodlands Grill reaches all the way to the vaulted ceiling and is centrally located on the main wall of the dining room). Or, for excellent views of the golf course and foothills surrounding the Forbes Travel Guide recommended hotel, ask for a table by the opposite wall of windows.
During colder months, the best tables at Woodlands Grill are the five nearest our roaring fireplaces — they’re loaded with ambiance. During warmer weather, any table on the screened-in veranda will offer sweeping views of our golf course, as will window tables indoors at Woodlands Grill if the heat is too much. Parties of up to 12 guests are very comfortable in the private Wine Library. At Rice House, the best tables are in the main dining room during cool evenings, as the carpeted floors and large fireplace make it especially cozy. The sun porch, however, is the place to be during warm weather, with lovely views of the manor knoll and the meadow.
