A French-inspired North Georgia spa
The Spa at Château Élan makes it easy for you to forget all about the stress-filled workweek. Located behind the main hotel at Château Élan, and easily accessible by golf cart or via a scenic stroll, a peaceful oasis awaits. After a recent renovation, which was completed in 2012, the spa now features warm tones of cream, light blue and brown throughout its 35,000-square-foot, three-level French-estate-inspired facility. You will find the cushy armchairs in the coed spa waiting room and the multicolored glass tiles placed in the spa suites both relaxing and refined.
And whether you’re checking in for a service in one of the 35 treatment rooms or for a weekend of pampering in one of the 14 spa suites, there are several amenities to keep you feeling at ease and rejuvenated. For starters, you will be encouraged to walk around in a plush robe and sandals — don’t be surprised if you see couples enjoying a gourmet meal (try the seared crab cakes or the baby mixed greens with salmon) at the spa’s restaurant Fleur-de-Lis. You’ll also find the aromatic blend of lavender, geranium and lemongrass wafting in the hallways quite pleasing to the senses. For quiet time, step into the relaxation room and take a nap on one of the seven chaise lounge chairs outfitted with comfy accent pillows and a curtain to provide a sense of privacy.
The Atlanta spa also comes with a small gym, should you want to work out (there are two treadmills, one elliptical machine and one bike) or take classes like yoga flow. Otherwise, spend time in the hot tub (which fits 12 people), hydrotherapy tub or nail salon with five pedicure stations and four manicure outposts. Little touches around the facility, such as the glass fountain display or the 17th-century French wood armoire (the only original pre-renovation piece left in the spa), serve as a reminder of the thoughtfulness that co-founder Nancy Panoz took into consideration when placing each accouterment in its respective area.
Before your treatment, visit the quaint gift shop that sells eco-friendly Georgia-made Oka B. flip-flops. Then settle in for a 110-minute specialty service, such as the Antioxidant Soak and Château Essential Massage, in the privacy and comfort of a luxurious spa suite.
