On any given night there’s likely a great performance to check out in Atlanta. Here are my picks on where to catch a play in the city.

Housed in the Woodruff Arts Center complex next to the High Museum, the Alliance Theatre is a premier spot to see a show. For a smaller venue feel I like both the Horizon Theatre in Five Points and the 14th Street Playhouse in Midtown.

It doesn’t say Atlanta much more than seeing something at the renowned Fox Theatre. The Fox hosts such acts as Jerry Seinfeld and Leonard Cohen, but touring stops of Broadway acts are equally fantastic.

While I don’t love venturing outside the perimeter often, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is worth it. There’s truly not a bad seat in the house and it’s a beautiful theatre with very comfortable seats.  For something a little outside the box, I love the outdoor venue of Piedmont Park for Georgia Shakespeare’s series fittingly called Shakespeare in the Park.
