A beautiful, modern Berlin spa
12 Treatment Rooms
In contrast to the traditional Old World aesthetic of Hotel Adlon Kempinski, Adlon Spa by Resense is a surprisingly sleek affair. The plush all-white spa was created by local designer Anne Maria Jagdfeld and it spans three floors and more than 10,500 square feet. (Tucked away inside the hotel, the luxury spa can also be accessed via a separate entrance around the back.)
The entire space exudes tranquility, from the alabaster walls and fireplace in the welcome area, to the gentle professionalism of the spa therapists. Three private spa suites, a yoga studio, fitness center and an indoor pool and Jacuzzi with bar service round out the wellness options here.
The pretty, white-washed treatment rooms have colored lights, heated massage tables and personal dressing rooms for total guest privacy. The three suites, each one a generous 484 square feet, are dressed in soft, natural colors and luxe furnishings. There’s a nail suite for manicures and pedicures available for one to two people at a time. The couples suite and private spa suites both come with a Finnish sauna and steam bath, whirlpool and sound system.
Order a spa lunch or snack to take advantage of the private suite time, or just book a suite and relax — no treatment needed.
The comprehensive massage menu includes a host of classics — Swedish, shiatsu, Thai — as well as more exotic options such as an underwater massage, lomi lomi nui, Indian head massage and a singing bowl massage (a Tibetan technique that is said to create resonances in the body and balances the inner cells).
Body treatments use advanced and use natural products by Dermalogica and Daniele de Winter Monaco. They range from a 60-minute customized facial and skin nourishment to facial firming and deep-cleansing rituals. The oh-so-indulgent Adlon Ritual Signature includes a warming foot compress, nutrient-rich green tea body wrap, soothing blossom bath and full-body massage before a lifting facial with natural botanical essences.
Anti-cellulite and anti-aging treatments are available, too. The Merlot grape body exfoliation smooths and hydrates the skin; there’s a slimming ritual that uses grapefruit to purify the skin and black pepper to stimulate the blood circulation.
For something really special, the HydraFacial MD series — hyped by everyone from the Prince of Monaco to Beyoncé — is an advanced, medical-grade skincare service that targets fine lines and wrinkles as well as oily and acne-prone skin.
When you’re done being pampered, head to the Berlin spa’s in-house hair salon for a scalp massage and trim (it uses Wella Sebastian Professional products) or book a session with yoga master Vijay Kumar Vyas.
Or make use of the pool and fitness area, which has a lovely heated pool area, a whirlpool and a sauna and steam bath. The pool bar serves drinks and light fare, which you may want to indulge in after a tough training session at the adjacent, well-equipped fitness center.
