The island of Gran Canaria has some of the best shopping in the Canary Islands, particularly on the colorful pedestrian-only Calle Triana. Home to outlets for familiar international brands as well as local designers, Calle Triana is packed day and night with tourists and locals. It’s a fun atmosphere, and one made even livelier by the musicians who regularly perform right on the street.
Our Forbes Travel Guide editors say there’s plenty of other good shopping to be had elsewhere on the islands. Arrecife and Playa Blanca, in Lanzarote, both have some fashionable stores for men and women; additionally, Arrecife has a food and crafts market on Saturdays, while on Wednesdays and Saturdays Playa Blanca hosts a jewelry and clothing market. Over on Fuerteventura, the market of Caleta de Fuste is a fantastic place to pick up excellent cheeses and locally-made products, while in Santa Cruz de Tenerife those looking for a more authentic island market should be sure to stop by Mercado de la Laguna in the Plaza del Cristo. Finally, delicious honey products can be found at the Recova market on La Palma.
