What are the rooms like at Wentworth Mansion?

The rooms at Wentworth Mansion are elegant, cozy and inviting. All 21 of them come with gas fireplaces with marble mantels, king-size sleigh beds, whirlpool tubs and spacious showers. We particularly like the intimate Mansion Rooms. The deep tan walls have wood wainscoting, light wood floors cover the space and the high white ceiling is bordered with a lovely decorative molding. The bed is dramatic focal point — a brass bar above it holds a thick velvety light brown drape with gold fringe that fans around the dark wood headboard. At the foot sits an olive tufted bench.

Next to the bed is a glass-topped dark wood desk edged in bamboo. On top, you’ll find a convenient charging panel for three outlets and two iPhone plugs, a Timex alarm clock, a phone and a lamp with an olive base with touches of red (to give it an aged look) and a gathered cream shade as well as a chocolate-brown leather place mat. Nearby, a wood armoire hides an LG flat-screen TV that slides out, a compact iLive DVD player (peruse the small DVD library in the parlor) that also hooks into your iPod and a safe.

One of the best spots in the Charleston hotel room is the sitting area in front of the ivory fireplace with the oversized dark-gold-framed mirror above it. Turn on the switch for the fireplace, walk over to the cream area rug with muted shades of sage gold and mauve, and sit in the plush studded sage sofa with high sides. Cozy up to the fleur-de-lis throw pillows in darker hues of mauve, blue and more and pluck magazines such as Southern Living, Charleston or Charleston Style & Design from the sage suede ottoman. Or sit closer to the fire in the sage-diamond-patterned armchair with whitewashed legs.

For another relaxing reading nook, head to the olive fainting couch in the alcove surrounded by widows with wood shutters.

On the opposite side of the spacious room, a pocket door reveals a large, airy bathroom with a tan, cream and black marble checkerboard floor. A light beige wallpaper with a gold pattern and cream wainscoting open up the space. A roomy cream sink area offers a black tray with cotton swabs; individually wrapped makeup remover pads; Antica Farmacista shower gel, lotion, shampoo and conditioner in light, pleasant grapefruit scent; and a shell-shaped white soap that’s lightly perfumed. A Jacuzzi has lemony bath salts with a shell scoop on its ledge, though if you don’t feel like a bath, opt for the two-person shower. One wall in the stall has a regular showerhead and the opposite provides a handheld fixture.
