Charleston has no shortage of hotels and bed and breakfast options, but if you want to stay at the very finest, book at room at Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Charleston Place. The hotel features elegant rooms and suites, a full service spa and the much-lauded Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Charleston Grill. The hotel is located near dozens of restaurants, great shopping and plenty of Charleston sites. You can also book a room at the historic Wentworth Mansion. This small boutique hotel was built as a residence in the 19th century and converted to accommodate guests in its 21 luxury rooms and suites in 1998.
Just across the Cooper River, the Cottages on Charleston Harbor (formerly the Belvidere Resort) is an amazingly close escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston. It's located on the water at Patriots Point, and the cottages feature screened porches with rocking chairs, hammocks and spacious indoor living areas. Finally, just outside of Charleston is Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. The Antebellum South-style mansion features biking, tennis, golf and nature activities, and is just about a 30 minutes drive from downtown Charleston.
I have to constantly get hotels for all my visitors and businesses, and it’s always Charleston Place. It’s perfectly centrally located with beautiful rooms, and it’s not terribly expensive. And they have a great restaurant.
