Located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, Puerto Vallarta lays in the center of Banderas Bay on the golden shores of the Mexican Riviera, and is the fifth largest city in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The city, known for its beaches and beautiful vistas, has a rich cultural history with art galleries and a thriving Mexican community. To the north, Nuevo Vallarta and the marina district are filled with condos and luxury mega resorts. At the southern end of downtown in Viejo Vallarta, traditional villas, boutique hotels and haute cuisine restaurants line the cobblestone streets. Here, the lively beach scene gives way to the bustling bars once the sun has set. The richness in biodiversity of the terroir also makes Puerto Vallarta an excellent destination for eco-tourism and activities such as deep-sea fishing, bird watching, turtle releases and more.
