Originally constructed to include 1,200 guest rooms, the newly renovated and restored Westin Book Cadillac Detroit downsized overall quantity of guest rooms in order to upsize each room’s square footage. Today, the Book is home to 453 guest rooms averaging 475 square feet, well above the industry average. Because the hotel is a historic landmark, it was renovated around existing windows that were to be kept entirely intact. As a result, natural light is abundant, and even each guest bathroom includes a window. Signature Westin accoutrements like 42-inch LCD flat-screen televisions, the Heavenly Bed and the Heavenly Bath are standard. Of the 450-plus guest rooms, 35 are suites looking out on the city’s skyline or the Detroit River and the Canadian city of Windsor on the other side.
