How can you get tee times at Princeville Makai Golf Club?

There are a number of ways to set up a tee time at Makai Golf Club, but there are a few things to keep in mind when doing so: During high vacation months in Hawaii (mid-December through March and major holiday weeks), it’s advisable to make bookings at least three days in advance by calling the Princeville Makai Golf Club pro shop directly at 808-826-1912. If you’d rather handle things online, you can do that, too, by logging on to www.makaigolf.com and browsing the available tee times. If you are staying at The St. Regis Princeville Resort, the concierge (808-826-9644) will also make course reservations for you at Makai, at the Prince Golf Club and at other Kauai golf courses on the island.

What is the dress code at Kaua’i Grill?

The dress code at Kaua’i Grill is defined as “casual sophistication” and “resort elegant.” Throughout The St. Regis Princeville Resort, guests and visitors wander the beaches, lounge by the swimming pools and nap in the cabanas in their bathing suits and flip-flops, but when sunset begins to glaze red and gold over Hanalei Bay, a more refined look comes about the guests. Although the Kauai restaurant does not require jackets and ties for gentlemen or dresses for ladies, the über-luxe, special occasion atmosphere calls for aloha shirts and slacks for men and flowing, flowered skirts and dresses for women –– when in Hawaii, wear what the Hawaiians wear, right? As Kauai is so popular for weddings, just-married couples are often seen at the Asian fusion restaurant bedecked in leis atop their gowns and tuxedos.

What is the scene like at Kaua’i Grill?

When discussing the scene at Kaua’i Grill, it’s important to note that The St. Regis Princeville Resort is a haven for celebrities who love to hide away with little, if any, recognition. And, although the resort staff will never give away the names of luminaries who may be in residence, famous faces are sometimes noticed at the Asian fusion restaurant, cuddling in the dreamy-soft, leather booths. Beyond the hibiscus-red glass doors is a vibrant, chambered nautilus-inspired chandelier dripping with glass strands that glow above the swanky interior of zebrawood and red accents.

While the Kauai restaurant is an once-in-a-lifetime destination for some visitors, the ambience is relaxed and welcoming. Famous for their natural warmth and friendliness, many of the servers and resort attendants have worked at the resort for years, some for decades.

How do you get a reservation at Kaua’i Grill?

As dinner at The St. Regis Princeville Resort’s Kaua’i Grill is a must for most resort guests and island vacationers, it’s advisable to call well ahead for a reservation (808-826-2600). You can also book online at OpenTable.com. For last-minute bookings, the concierge may be able to wrangle a table. If you fail to get a sunset reservation time at one of the highly prized window tables, make a dinner reservation for later, then retire to the St. Regis bar to watch the sun sink into the bay while sipping a pineapple-mint caipirinha or a lychee-raspberry Bellini. The appetizers on the bar menu come from the kitchen at the Asian fusion restaurant, and the glimmering bay and the last-second-of-sun flash at the horizon are just the same as from the window tables.

The junior golf program at The St. Regis Princeville Resort’s Princeville Makai Golf Club enables parents to introduce their youngsters, ages 6 to 15, to the game. Every child who plays a round with a paying adult can do so for free. Adjacent to the Poipu Bay Golf Course, the 602-room Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa’s lies right on the shores of Keoneloa Bay. The 24-hour fitness center is stocked with Life Fitness cardio and weight equipment. Yoga and fitness classes take place in an open-air hale.

What’s the scenery like at Poipu Bay Golf Course?

From Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa’s Poipu Bay Golf Course, the most dazzling view is of the Maha’ulepu coastline, the last accessible, undeveloped section of the south shore of Kauai. Golfers are mesmerized by the surfers and boogie boarders off the beach at Keoneloa Bay, which is also known as Shipwrecks Beach. (It was named that for the wreckage of a fishing boat in the 1970s.) A series of sandy crescents, nearby Poipu Beach may be the most popular spot on the island for snorkeling, swimming, wading and surfing. Looming as massive green backdrops above the golf course are Mount Haupu and Mount Waialeale and their craggy foothills. Another scene at the course is painted by the Mahaulepu Heritage Trail, which is dotted with beaches and a limestone sinkhole known as Makauwahi Cave and stretches from Keoneloa Bay to Kawailoa Bay.
