Helsinki has lot of parks. The city is quite green actually and you don't have to walk carrying your picnic basket for too long to hit the park.
Kaivopuisto is a very popular park in summertime. You can find many ice cream stands there as well as few cafes and restaurants, such as Mattolaituri or Carusel. The restaurant Kaivohuone is a nightclub with a huge terrace. The park is by the sea and there is a tiny beach for swimming too. Although it is a bit further way, past Carusel.
The biggest park is the central park and it is big enough to get a little bit lost, too. The park has at least 100 km of hiking trails and jogging paths (ski trails in winter). The Stadium, the playing fields and several sports halls offer many opportunities for different types of sports: swimming, running, tennis, boxing, fitness training, ice hockey, figure skating, ringette to mention few.
Other smaller (but very nice!) parks are Kaisaniemenpuisto, Koffinpuisto and Töölönlahti park (wich is really the first art of the massive Central Park.
