Mii amo

Sedona’s serene wellness retreat
VERIFIED LUXURY

For more than two decades, Mii amo’s rust-colored walls have rested in silent meditation among the towering red rocks of Sedona’s Boynton Canyon, offering a serene retreat for those seeking to reconnect with nature and their inner self. Following a two-year, $40 million renovation, the beloved resort has emerged in 2023 like a butterfly ready to greet a new generation of Sedona wellness seekers.

Among the long-awaited improvements to Mii amo are a new signature restaurant, a two-story movement and fitness studio and seven new Casita rooms and suites — not to mention luxurious refurbishments to the 16 existing accommodations. Outdoor enhancements like a new sensory garden and reflexology path add even more Zen to the hotel’s enchanting surroundings, while carefully curated spa treatments now start at an indulgent 60 minutes so relaxation time is never cut short.

Whether visiting for the first time or the hundredth, Mii amo’s newly refreshed sanctuary promises an enticing treat for the senses.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The renovation included the addition of seven new suites, bringing the total to an intimate 23 rooms. All accommodations boast cozy touches like fireplaces and heated bathroom floors, while the new suites feature private courtyards and soaking tubs overlooking Boynton Canyon’s distinct red walls.
  • Mii amo spa has always been a major draw, now made even more luxurious with longer treatments and a new 10-day Journey. Therapies here range from traditional massages and facials to energy clearing, hypnosis, sound resonance therapy and celestial manifesting ceremonies.
  • Seasonally inspired restaurant Hummingbird keeps health at the forefront of the menu without sacrificing flavor. Start your morning with a harissa-spiced wheatberry bowl, then indulge in a vegan mushroom curry over forbidden rice after sundown.
  • The newly debuted 3,300-square-foot fitness center is bathed in natural light with a side of canyon views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Expert-led sessions range from yin yoga and “mindfulness through breath” lectures to introductory pickleball classes.

  • For the most holistic experience, book one of Mii amo’s multi-day wellness journeys. These all-inclusive packages cover accommodations and meals as well as a dedicated program of consultations and fitness classes.

  • Wellness journeys also include resort credits, which can be used on indulgences at Mii amo’s world-class spa as well as at neighboring sister property Enchantment Resort’s self-expressing Artist’s Cottage and the Trail House haven for outdoor adventures.

The Look

  • Mii amo’s original designer, Gluckman Tang Architects, was tapped to reimagine the space for its $40 million enhancement. The New York City-based firm is renowned for its work on cultural institutions like Madrid’s Prado Museum and NYC’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
  • Natural materials in rich earth tones dominate the luxury hotel’s design — think terra cotta concrete, pale woods, adobe brick and stark white stucco — to help the property blend with the surrounding desert.
  • The Living Room features nods to the property’s natural surroundings: A sunken seating area helps you feel grounded to the earth, private nooks with windows offer connection to the sun and sky, and a wood-burning fireplace provides a warm gathering place any time of day.
  • Solace seekers should spend some time in Mii amo’s Crystal Grotto. The unique circular meditation room centers around a fountain and quartz crystal mounted on a pedestal of petrified wood, illuminated once a year on the summer solstice by a specially designed skylight overhead.
