The bar at The Inn at Dos Brisas boasts a fantastic wine collection and excellent cocktails. With more than 7,000 bottles in the cellar, you won’t find a better wine selection in the state. The creative bartenders can also mix up a garden cocktail using fresh juice and herbs from the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel’s 10-acre organic garden, or a classic tipple like a rye Manhattan.
The nearby town of Brenham also offers a few bars but we recommend heading to one of the nearby wineries. This small town may be lacking in nightlife destinations, but there are several wineries that offer tours and tastings. At the Windy Winery you can enjoy handcrafted wines and live music on Saturday afternoons. Saddlehorn Winery, housed in a remodeled horse barn, also offers wines tours and a gift shop. At Pleasant Hill Winery, home to a 60-degree cellar, you can sip their collina rossa (a blend of cab and zin) on the patio during their Friday “winedowns” (last call is at sunset).
If you’d like a drink later in the evening (most of the wineries close by 6 p.m.), head to Brenham’s BT Longhorn Saloon & Steakhouse, a 1880s bar that serves steak, seafood and plenty of drinks.
