Chaz on the Plaza has a cozy, sophisticated bar and lounge area right when you walk into the restaurant located on the lower level of Four-Star Raphael Hotel. The full bar features high cocktail tables, booths with smaller tables and other areas for larger parties. You’ll want to stop in for the daily live music from locals playing everything from jazz and blues to more contemporary sounds. Be sure to make it to the lounge’s happy hour from 4 until 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, when you can get half-priced appetizers such as crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, escargot and steak burgers, as well as drink specials. Speaking of drinks, Chaz on the Plaza's cocktails — a combination of the mixologists' own creations and adaptations to classics — include the smoke-infused Hazy Hayden, made of basil bourbon, cinnamon simple sugar and sassafras. The infused smoke gives it a distinct flavor and provides a dramatic presentation. You’ll also find a long wine list that's worth exploring; the Kansas City restaurant uses the Coravin Wine Access System, which allows you to enjoy by-the-glass selections from bottles that usually cost $300 to $500. It’s a warm and friendly spot to enjoy a few drinks after work, before dinner or just to extend your evening out.
