To take full advantage of the Kohler area's outdoor wonders, both natural and manmade, the best time of year to visit is May through October. Mild weather opens up the possibility of golf at The American Club's renowned courses, Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits. Of course, the warm summer months are also the best time for taking a bike out to explore the Old Plank Road Trail, or give swimming or paddleboarding a go at Sheboygan's beautiful Deland Park Beach. With its soft sands and crystal waters, Midwest freshwater surfers have affectionately come to know it as the "Malibu of the Midwest." That being said, the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Years is Kohler's busiest, when visitors can flock to the area to take advantage of winter sports, resort-hosted holiday events and the The American Club's Kohler Waters Spa.
Kohler is a year-round destination, though be prepared for snow and cold if you come in the winter. It is the Midwest, after all. Fall is our favorite time to visit the charming company town, namely because The American Club hosts the fantastic Kohler Food & Wine Experience in October. It offers you the chance to get face time with noted chefs like Food Network's Anne Burrell and The Immigrant Restaurant's own top toque Matt Bauer. Whether you want to learn from the chefs in demos or just partake in the great wine, chocolate and other delicious samples, it's worth a trip.
