Sleepy, secluded Lanai is one of Hawaii’s best bets for finding a quiet, deserted beach. Though there are plenty of stretches of sand to explore, one of the best— and hardest to find — is Kaiolohia, also known as Shipwreck Beach. The beach stretches for eight miles along the coast, with a number of wrecked ships along its shallow, rocky channel, including a the rusting hull of a World War II tanker. On clear days, you can see Molokai and Maui in the distance. You’ll need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access this remote beach, but the effort is worth it when you see the unique and intriguing beauty of Kaiolohia.
