The 45 Park Lane features a striking art deco-inspired design style, which impresses on first glance. With an enviable spot on Park Lane overlooking the leafy treetops of London’s Hyde Park, the hotel cuts an imposing swatch on the neighborhood with retro metal fins protruding from its stone surface, strong horizontal lines and a tall curved font announcing its name. Inside, there is contemporary artwork from the likes of Damien Hirst displayed throughout the public areas; the two-story lobby is anchored by an enormous illuminated column fanning outwards at the top, as well as double-height curtains pulled aside to frame the lobby level restaurant for a theatrical effect. Wire and bulb lighting fixtures glitter overhead, while a central staircase leads upward to the cozy library and bar. Tall pillar vases display fresh green orchids, and red and yellow leather furnishings offer a comfortable place to meet a colleague or curl up with a giant book.
