The desserts at Scarpetta Miami Beach hail from the Italian culinary tradition, just like chef Scott Conant’s luxurious savory menu. Offerings include panna cotta and a semifreddo, but here you’ll also find a hint of Miami, thanks to tropical fruit garnishes and flavorings. When we visited the restaurant recently, we were treated to such sweets as mascarpone custard with mango salad and sorbet; pineapple cake with lemon verbena, macadamia nuts and mascarpone sorbet; polenta-crusted cheesecake with strawberries and strawberry gelato; chocolate zeppole (ricotta doughnuts) with a warm Nutella center and vanilla crème anglaise; and a rich chocolate cake with toasted almond gelatin and salted caramel sauce. If you prefer savory to sweet, though, you’ll also find an Italian cheese plate alongside a selection of Port and dessert wines at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant.
