The Bernardus Winery has a wine club — called the Bernardus Wine Club — with two different membership levels. If you’re a member of the entry-level club, expect to receive four shipments of two to four bottles a year. Your selections will be drawn from the Carmel Valley’s most popular wines, such as the chardonnay, pinot noir and sauvignon blanc from Monterey County. If you prefer, the winery lets members choose just red wines or all white wines in their shipments. If you’re more of a wine collector and want to receive more distinctive bottlings, consider the Bernardus Signature Club. Members of the Signature Club receive all the regular shipments as well as an additional six to 12 bottles a year. Those additional bottles are usually vineyard-designate wines made in small quantities that are otherwise only available at the winery. In both club levels, shipments will run between $50 and $80, depending on the number of bottles. They’re charged to your credit card on file when they are shipped out.
In addition to wonderful wines, Bernardus Wine Club members get invited to special events throughout the year. Some are shipment pick-up parties, where there will be wine and cheese or perhaps an open house at The Spa at Bernardus Lodge with passed appetizers. The most sought-after event of the year is the harvest lunch at Bernardus Winery, the only day of the year the winery in a remote part of Carmel Valley is open to the public.
Wine club membership is open to people living in states that allow wine delivery. For details on how to join the Bernardus Wine Club, visit the website, or call Christina Gray at 831-298-8015.
