Since Bernardus Winery is a mostly a production facility that’s not open to the public, it usually does not offer any special tours. The only exception is the one day a year when members of the Bernardus Wine Club are invited to the winery in the hills of Carmel Valley. The harvest party luncheon is the biggest wine club event of the year. One hundred lucky club members get the chance to take a tour, see how wine is made and aged, and talk to Bernardus winemaker Dean De Korth. The luncheon is catered by chef Cal Stamenov, who also oversees gourmet restaurants Marinus and Wickets Bistro at Bernardus Lodge.
If you’re interested in joining the wine club, call 831-298-8015. Aside from getting access to the luncheon, you’ll receive membership perks like 20 percent off of tasting room purchases, free wine tastings and four shipments of two to three bottles per year (prices range from $50 and $80 per shipment).
