While you’ll find many thoughtful amenities when you stay at Cypress Inn, room service isn’t one of them. The historic Carmel hotel doesn’t serve food in the room, likely because it has a restaurant called Terry’s Restaurant and Lounge in the center of the hotel that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. The breakfast buffet includes fare like eggs, hash browns, fruit, an assortment of hot and cold cereals, and juices. The signature item is the popovers made to order. Lunchtime brings dishes like Doris Day’s favorite chicken salad or Monterey sand dabs. The hotel offers a full tea with scones and finger sandwiches from 1 to 4 p.m. Then it’s time for dinner; dishes range from Monterey Bay calamari with harass to a New York steak with brandy peppercorn sauce. Even though there’s no room service at Cypress Inn, you can dine well without ever leaving the hotel.
