The best time to visit Mumbai really depends on what you like to do and see.
The weather is the best between the months of October and March, at this time it is dry and temperatures are around 30 degrees celsius. This makes it a great time to enjoy being outside, whether it is enjoying sundowners in an open air bar or experiencing the carnival atmosphere at Chowpatty Beach.
In the winter, Mumbai also hosts many food and art festivals, including the Mumbai International Film Festival, The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and the Taste of Mumbai. The city really does come to life and there is plenty to see and do at this time.
Another great time to be in Mumbai is for the Ganpati Chaturthi Festival. This is a lunar festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, and will be held on 9 September in 2013. The city comes alive with parades where large and brightly decorated statues of Lord Ganesha are taken to the ocean, where the statues are then immersed. Thousands of people line the streets leading up to the main beaches such as Chowpatty and Juhu Beach. This is the best time to see the spirit of Mumbai and experience the joyous atomosphere of a religious festival in this town.
