Mumbai is a huge city and there are so many things to do, it can be a bit overwhelming for a first time visitor. However, no visit to the city is complete without seeing the Gateway of India.
The Gateway of India is a beautiful monument built on the edge of Mumbai Harbour to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. Whilst the architectural aspects of the Gateway of India are great, it is the experience of walking through the crowds in the open square that make this a must-do activity in Mumbai.

From here you can also take a boat to Elephanta Island, with the view from the ferry offering a fantastic photo opportunity looking back over Mumbai Harbour.
After you have walked around the monument and through the open square, head to the nearby Taj Mahal Palace Hotel for a quiet drink. This is grand building is the most famous hotel in Mumbai and a great place to watch the sun set over the Gateway of India.
