With weather normally well above 30 degrees celsius, ice cream is a great antidote to cool you down on a sweltering day. Mumbai has a wide range of ice cream parlours, from international brands like Baskin Robbins to local varieties.
One of the best ice creams to try in Mumbai is the local kulfi. Made from condensed milk and flavoured with nuts and spices, it is a taste sensation. You can find local kulfi vendors on most street corners, particularly near tourist locations like the Gateway of India and Chowpatty Beach. Whilst most restaurants will also sell kulfi, there is nothing like the authentic experience of having some by the seaside.
For something a bit different, Natural Ice Cream sells preservative free ice cream made from the freshest and most natural ingredients. Made from fresh fruit and nuts, you can try some of the exotic local flavours like Sitaphal (Custard Apple) and creamy Tender Coconut. There are several Natural Ice Cream stores around Mumbai, including one on Marine Drive and another at Malabar Hill. You can also ring them up and ask them to deliver your favourite flavour to your door.
