All sorts of treasures can be found in Mumbai. Bazaars and shops are loaded with glittering saris, reams of bangles and all kind of vintage goods. Here’s where our Forbes Travel Guide editors say you can find the best shopping in Mumbai:
1. Palladium Mall at Phoenix Mills. Home to the biggest international brands, Palladium is a one-stop shop for anything fashion related. You’ll find Western brands such as Zara and Burberry alongside Indian favorites like Shantanu & Nikhil, a cross between Indian chic and Western sensibility. The mall is also home to a number of the city’s finest restaurants, a comedy club drawing comedians from around the world, several bars and a club.
2. Hill Road. Whether you’re looking for a custom-made mini-skirt or a saree, Hill Road is the best place to find the widest variety of one of a kind fabric.
Linking Road. This road can be described in exactly two words — shoe heaven. Whether in air-conditioned, name-brand stores or outdoor stalls, the Linking Road area of Bandra has shoes to fit any size and budget.
3. Colaba Causeway. Everything from cheap souvenirs to fake antiques and the best junk jewelry, Colaba Causeway has it all. One of the oldest neighborhoods of Mumbai, Colaba Causeway is also home to a number of art galleries, restaurants and some of the city’s best colonial architecture.
4.The Bombay Store. This is the place for souvenirs unique to Mumbai including witty t-shirts, household items and of course, tea. The store has a number of sculptures, handmade candles and other works of art created by artists across India. If you only have time to shop one place, go to the Bombay Store. There are several outposts around Mumbai, including one at the airport.
