Where is the best shopping in Nantucket?

There is no shortage of good shopping on Nantucket, home to a walkable downtown full of stylish boutiques, eclectic home stores and the necessary T-shirt and gift shops to get that ACK sweatshirt before you hit the ferry home. The best part about shopping the island is that there is only one chain store, Ralph Lauren. You won’t find a Banana Republic or Pier 1 here — just superbly original stores that make shopping fun. While it’s almost impossible to pinpoint just a few shops that are musts, two areas not to miss are Old South Wharf and Centre Street.

Old South Wharf is quintessential Nantucket, with little shingled bungalows turned into an island shopping institution. From the cheese and wine store Dupree & Company to Eye of the Needle’s resort wear, and from men’s clothing with a USA story from One Orange to stunning jewelry at Emily Brooke Rubin, you’ll find that you need a good hour or two to really explore Old South Wharf shopping.

Next, take a stroll through Centre Street at the top of town, where ladies will love browsing in the fabulous women’s boutiques. Make sure to stop by Addison Craig to check out the shoe of the day, Ladybird Lingerie for a little something special and Beauty By The Sea for exquisite makeup and skincare products.
