Mother’s Day is a delicious time to visit The Resort at Pelican Hill. The Newport Coast hotel goes far beyond offering a typical Mother’s Day brunch (although there is one available in the Mar Vista Ballroom) by offering a range of dining experiences that mom will remember for years to come.
In 2013, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel put together five different options for Mother’s Day. The Coliseum Pool & Grill hosted a special all-day poolside breakfast buffet featuring selections like smoked salmon, artisanal cheeses, breakfast sausages, a custom omelet station, croissants and warm bread pudding. The previously mentioned Mother’s Day brunch was served in the Mar Vista Ballroom between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., giving mother ample time to sleep in and enjoy the cold seafood, made-to-order salads, carved meats and decadent desserts at her leisure.
Plates of seared sea scallops with cauliflower couscous, lobster eggs Benedict and herb-crusted Wagyu New York strip were featured in the open-kitchen Pelican Grill, where the chefs put together a special menu for Mother’s Day. More formal dining options included a three-course prix-fixe lunch at the Pacific Ballroom and a three-course dinner at Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Andrea, the luxury California hotel’s home for classic Italian dining. Once you treat mom to sea bass Livornese and ricotta cheese tortino with strawberry rhubarb compote, there won’t be any competition for the title of her favorite child.
