Osaka is a relatively compact city, and with an easy-to-use and efficient subway system, getting around presents few problems. The main shopping districts and transportation hubs in the north and south of the city are connected by the Midosuji (red) subway line, while various other subway lines and the JR Loop Line cover most of the other must-see areas. Overseas visitors who invest in a JR pass can get unlimited travel on all JR lines (including the bullet train). The pass can be used throughout Japan, so it is a worthwhile investment if you plan to travel around.
