Rome has a lively nightlife scene that is made up of restaurants, bars and dance clubs. Trastevere, the neighborhood just on the other side of the Tiber River, is filled with restaurants and bars. On warm summer nights, young people pack into the area’s piazzas. Trastevere is also home to one of Rome’s most revered live-music institutions, Big Mama, a club that features live jazz, blues, and rock music. The San Lorenzo neighborhood also has a great nightlife scene, thanks to being home to hundreds of university students (just know that it leans more toward cheap drinks and dive bars than swank lounges and jazz clubs). Late-night club goers should head to Testaccio, which is home to some of the hippest dance clubs in town.
