La Fonda on the Plaza has 179 rooms, 55 of which are original from the 1922 construction. All rooms have hand-carved wood features, such as the headboards first designed by architect Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, who also designed many of the historic buildings at the Grand Canyon for the Fred Harvey Company. Southwestern wood-and-leather chairs, hand-painted tile, plastered walls and vigas (Southwestern roof supports) give rooms a true Santa Fe Style feel. Amenities such as Keurig coffee makers, device charging stations, flat-screen TVs, card-activated locks, and new hallway carpeting add up-to-date conveniences in a property committed to honoring its history. Fourth floor Terrace Suites have wood-burning corner fireplaces and access to a rooftop hot tub and views.
