Secluded Southwestern-style villas
The Phoenician Residences is a great way to enjoy all the comforts of home while staying at a world-class resort in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. Nestled in a private area of Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star The Phoenician, on the southeast side of iconic Camelback Mountain, the Residences is an alternative resort experience featuring six two- and three-bedroom villas. The inviting units range from 1,400 to 2,400 square feet yet all feature rich hardwood floors, full modern kitchens, dining room, a travertine fireplace, an outdoor summer kitchen with a gas grill and flat-screen televisions. While enjoying the many comforts of home in your own personal space, you also have full access to all of the resort’s services and amenities, including Four-Star The Centre for Well-Being spa and 27 holes of championship golf. Each unit even comes with a golf cart so you can easily get around the sprawling 250-acre resort.
Driving into The Phoenician, the Residences is discreetly located in its own little section just past the main entrance, overlooking part of the Canyon Nine golf course. Even though they’re separated from the main resort, the Southwestern architecture and landscaping of the units make it clear they’re an extension of The Phoenician. The villas have a warm and inviting feel on the inside with creamy earth tones that don’t overpower you and really provide a sense of home. A large, relaxing living room area with a fireplace and access to the patio area greet you right past the door.
Getting a good night’s sleep at the Residences will not be a problem. It’s actually getting up and out of the comfortable beds that could be the issue for some. There are five two-bedroom villas and one three-bedroom unit. There’s a sleeper sofa in each living room, so every villa can easily accommodate at least five people; this might explain why the Residences is very popular for multigenerational families traveling together. The master suite is large with a king-size bed and its own sliding glass door to the back patio or balcony. The main bedroom also has a grand bathroom with double sink, separate glass shower stall and a big, old-fashioned soaking tub. A nice touch in each bathroom is the full-size toiletry set, which includes Gilchrist & Soames moisturizer and C.O. Bigelow bath salts. The second and third bedrooms are spacious with queen-sized beds and separate bathroom.
For as lovely as the Residences is on the inside, the thing that really pushes the “wow” factor over the top are outside patio/balcony areas that provide Pinterest-ready views of the lush golf course and stunning Camelback Mountain.
Each patio is its own little oasis, featuring a full-size barbecue grill, private plunge pool, hot tub, fire pit and plush seating area. It’s really like having your own club right in the backyard.
There’s only one unit that doesn’t have a pool because it’s on the second level, but that villa has something the other five don’t — two balconies, one facing east and another looking to the west. The east-facing balcony includes a hot tub, while the other provides a gas grill. This villa gives you the unique chance to sit on one balcony in the morning to enjoy coffee and The New York Times at sunrise, then watch sunset over cocktails from the other.
When it comes to eating out, The Phoenician features nine restaurants, ranging from casual fare at Relish Burger Bistro to a great porterhouse at J&G Steakhouse. Of course, any selection can be brought to the villa to savor in seclusion at the six-person, dining room table featuring a rectangular chandelier with unique pillar candles. Each of the Residences also has a full-size kitchen with a smaller table for quicker, smaller meals. There’s no need to worry about stocking your refrigerator either. The resort will go to the store for you and fill your shelves with whatever you’d like before you even arrive. You also have the option of having a property chef come to the villa and cook dinner for you.
