Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel is one of a kind. Its feng shui concept is implemented from top to bottom, with sky and earth embodied and represented through various original artworks in the interior and in the structural integrity of the building itself. The patterns and columns of the outer façade are stunning, integrating angular patterns and tree trunk-like posts. The outside is a square and the inside is a circle, a symbolic shape of jade that invokes the founder’s respect for feng shui. The lobby features a large 500-year-old pagoda from the Qing dynasty, and on the ceiling a futuristic LCD screen puts on a show with butterflies and exploding fireworks. The rooms in the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel are contemporary and comfortable — the suites have open bathrooms with stand-alone tubs and double sinks, and the beds are plush and spacious. Our favorite aspect of the design is the view — panoramic outlooks of Pudong can be had from all the rooms and suites.
