If you want a room with an amazing view at Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai, it depends on what you’d like to see out of your window. The Shanghai hotel offers three different views: the Pudong city vista, the Huangpu River and the Bund skyline. The Bund is Shanghai’s richest collection of historical architecture and includes beautifully restored Art Deco, colonial and neo-classical buildings. The Pudong city view includes close-ups of the futuristic-looking Oriental Pearl Tower, which went up in 1994 and used to be China’s tallest structure (it was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2007). Those looking out on the Huangpu River will see cargo barges and tour boats traversing its murky waters. All the rooms at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel provide excellent photo ops — and you won’t even have to fight the crowds for a clear shot. Shanghai looks its best at night, when the Huangpu’s boats, the Bund’s buildings and Pudong’s skyscrapers are all lit up, so be sure to get out your camera once the sun sets.
