Pelham’s, the Western fine dining restaurant at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, has three different menus with different price ranges. During the week from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., there’s a 288RMB (US$46) set lunch menu that includes dishes such as risotto primavera (peas, asparagus, pesto and Parmesan crisps) and Monkfish served pan-fried and as a mousse with potato gnocchi, cherry tomato pudding and saffron sauce.
The chef’s tasting menu and the à la carte menu are available at any time. From the tasting menu, choose four, five, six, or 12 courses, which are priced at RMB488 (US$77), RMB588 (US$93), RMB628 (US$100) and RMB1,888 (US$300), respectively. The tasting menu offers smaller portions of sea bass marinated in miso and served with candied walnuts or pan-fried pigeon breast with roasted pineapple, porto wine and panang curry sauce. Dishes off the à la carte menu range from RMB138 (US$22) for appetizers such as the house-smoked and confit duck with organic field greens and red wine poached pear to RMB338 (US$54) for Australian lamb loin served with merguez sausage, couscous and vegetables baked in a tagine pot.
