The menu at Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse features standard American steakhouse fare with expertly cooked steaks, rich side dishes and an enormous selection of wine thanks to the restaurant’s neighboring private cellar. Steaks will run you RMB300 (US$48) for an eight-ounce, 1.5-inch thick filet mignon all the way up to RMB1,250 (US$198) for the most expensive steak — a 24-ounce, 1.5-inch thick, 28-day aged porterhouse prime. All steaks are cooked in a 700 F oven and on a cast-iron grill, so you get a nice crisp crust on every steak. From the sides section of the menu, be sure to try the black truffle macaroni and cheese, which is creamy and rich, along with the bacon creamed spinach, Gruyère scalloped potatoes with blue cheese crumble and oven-roasted bone marrow with foie gras. The Caesar salad, meticulously prepared tableside, is one of the restaurant’s standout dishes, and we particularly love the brioche croutons. Along with the salad, don’t skip over the tuna tartare, also prepared tableside and served with toast. In addition to steaks, Roosevelt Prime Steakhouse offers a selection of alternative main courses, including a brick-oven roasted whole sea bass with seasonal vegetables and herb vinaigrette, and scallop risotto with sea urchin cream, red mullet bottarga and foie gras carpaccio. If you have any room left for dessert, spoon your way through banana rum soufflé with crème anglaise and chocolate fondant cake with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream.
