Shanghai has a dizzying number of clubs, from blinged-out, seizure-inducing Chinese spots like 88 to European-packed Bund-side affairs. The hottest club in Shanghai is M1NT, a semi members-only joint on a quiet side street near the Bund. This is where Shanghai’s young and young-at-heart pretty things come to see and be seen. The dance floor is always packed, the music pumping, and the bathrooms full of women primping and preening. To top it all off, there’s a well-proportioned terrace and, coming out of nowhere, a long shark tank. M1NT also has a quite good pan-European restaurant, and though the eatery's surroundings are as luxe as the club’s, it’s a quiet, civilized affair.
Another one of Shanghai’s hottest clubs is Muse on the Bund, a short walk from M1NT and on an equally quiet side street. Part of the Shanghai-wide Muse chain of clubs, Muse on the Bund is massive, with plenty of space to dance and a 500 square meter terrace with a shallow dipping pool. American bar manager Logan Brouse has his staff trained well, and drinks are properly mixed and delivered in fairly good time—quite the feat when the bar is rammed.
