While Morris Inn is used almost exclusively by the university during home football weekends, the fall is still a wonderful time to visit the property. With the excitement of new students and the colors of fall foliage, the surrounding Notre Dame campus is alive with excitement. Plan a visit while the school's Fighting Irish football team is away and still enjoy the buzz of one of the most famous sporting sites in the world. There are tours of Notre Dame Stadium available most days and restaurants on campus (and off of it) fill with football fans eager to cheer on the Irish. Similarly, a buzz pervades the campus during the annual spring football practices and Blue-Gold game, too. During the events leading up to the spring scrimmage, a pep rally is held to unveil "The Shirt," a commemorative T-shirt that features a different design every year. More low-key than the fall football weekends, the event has become its own tradition for alumni and fans.

Apart from football — yes, there are things going on around campus that don’t involve helmets and shoulder pads — Notre Dame features a variety of activities centered around world-renowned architecture and classic works of art. When the weather is nice, spend hours wandering around the picturesque campus while admiring the intricate details of the various buildings' designs before continuing on to the Grotto and St. Mary's Lake.
