If your idea of vacation includes a bit of shopping, you’re in luck in St. Petersburg, where you’ll find plenty of shopping destinations, no matter what your taste.
We suggest starting your shopping excursion by strolling down Central Avenue and poking into boutiques, art galleries, record (yes, vinyl) shops, antique shops and bookstores. It’s also worth the drive a bit farther west to Haslam’s Book Store, Florida’s largest new and used bookseller.
For name-brand shopping, cross the bridge on your way to Tampa and stop at International Plaza. Here you’ll find department stores such as Nordstrom, H&M and Neiman Marcus; boutiques by Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Burberry, Betsey Johnson and Tory Burch; casual favorites bebe, Henri Bendel and J. Crew; and jewelers Tiffany & Co. and Mont Blanc. For more mainstream shopping, plug Westshore Plaza into your GPS and shop ‘til you drop in Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gap, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Loft and Chico’s, just to name a few. Another option is the tree-lined streets, sprawling homes and shopping à la European village in the quiet, residential neighborhood of Hyde Park — one of the top shopping spots in the Tampa Bay Area.
Love to find a good buy? You’ll want to visit the outlet malls in Ellenton, just 30 minutes south on I-75 outside Bradenton. One hundred and thirty outlet stores, including Banana Republic, J. Crew, Kate Spade New York, Michael Kors and many more await.
